Mr Hutchinson listened to all my fears and my partners. He explained everything in detail but did not bamboozle us with medical terms. He put me at ease and I was confident I was in good hands.

If it wasn't for Mr Hutchinson and Dr Lowe and their wonderful team, I would have most probably have ended up in a wheel chair. My grateful thanks to them all. Tom Walker

I waited 2 years for my hip replacement due to an infection in the same ankle (left) that would not heal only with time and excellent care when we were ready for the operation of my completely disintegrated the treatment from Mr Hutchinson was second to none he talked me through the op and was very detailed and easily understood. He showed and explained after the op what he did and why on the X-ray and I am extremely satisfied with how everything went and the treatment I had I have been in the hands of a very caring and professional surgeon. Could not complain about anything. Many thanks Mr Hutchinson regards Ian Stock

Had both hips replaced during the past year. Mr Hutchinson is extremely efficient in his clinic and during the operation and passionate about his work. I am 56 years old and I have suffered with my walking for a least 2-3 years and I was stooped over by the time of my 1st op in May 2018. I have always been used to doing long distance hikes. I am now post 8 weeks my second op and already walking 3-5 miles daily and I have been given my life back. I cannot thank Mr Hutchinson enough. The team at the Nuffield are excellent and my recovery has been brilliant. I realise that if I had left my hips any longer my spine could have been affected. Post op you have to be willing to do the physio daily and keep moving and walking and sometimes pushing through pain to achieve the end result.

Mr Hutchinson is a true professional, he not only takes time to listen to you with any of your concerns, he is also very good in explaining in clear simple terms what treatment is required. He has an excellent bedside manner that I believe has “brushed” off on his staff. I would have no concerns in recommending him to my family members and friends should they need orthopaedic treatment.

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Royal Derby Hospital and Derby Nuffield Hospital. I have been in my current post since 2002.
I specialise in primary hip and knee replacement, revision hip replacement and the management of periprosthetic fractures.
My medical school training was at The Queens College , University of Oxford and Addenbrookes Hospital, University of Cambridge. I carried out additional training in complex hip and knee surgery during a 12 month Fellowship in Perth, Western Australia.
I submit all my cases to the National Joint Registry and the outcomes of my last 3000 joint replacement cases put me in the top 5% of UK surgeons in terms of revision rate.
Hip and knee replacement is a real passion of mine- I firmly believe you only live once and that well performed hip and knee replacement prolongs good function and improves quality of life.
